Once again, “that time of the month.” I huff and I puff.
Blackballed By Google…
The ban continues. This blog has not been indexed by Google Blog Search in 45 days, or Google Search in 29 days.
…But That Won’t Stop Me
I told you to keep your eye on paid search trends. Google’s Q1 report showed volume up 5% over Q4. Not as fast as it is used to, still not bad. But average cost-per-click (flip the coin to get Google’s revenues) declined 4% quarter-to-quarter. You’ll hear that is normal holiday seasonality. I’ll tell you to keep your eye on it.
Giving You The High Sign
The news about digital signage is heating up, just like I told you it would. Lots of press about Nordstrom putting big video screens in front of new store construction in NYC’s Union Square. Plus, Access 360, which handles digital signage for malls and in-store, bought Arena Media Networks (guess what it does?). See something, buy something.
Yelling Fore In Sears
This one goes way back to a “How Would You Save” in 2008. One of our ideas for Sears was to clear out the junk apparel and use the space created to sell some services. Wasn’t thinking of golf, but we’ll take it. Sears just announced it is opening pro shops in a dozen stores. Can a Craftsman sand wedge be far behind?
When The Best Viral Video Isn’t Good Enough
Early in the year we pointed out, even in this era of social media, how important TV is for generating awareness. I never thought I’d live to see this, though. One of the most talked about/viewed viral videos – the Evian roller babies – will now be run on broadcast television. No social media “gurus” could explain this even if they tried (of course, none have).
I’ll Take My Drunk To Go
We are waiting for the warmer weather to hit Pennsylvania (July?) to see how those grocery-store pubs are doing. In the meantime, Meijer is one of several retailers testing a drive-thru window. Is that considered green?
Dumas Of The Month
At the last minute, Forrester CEO George Colony stepped up, with his outrageous social media timeline, to snag this month’s Alexandre Dumas award. Infinity and beyond!
From The Larry King File: Is It Me, Or…
Was I the only one who read that Snapfish was throwing a big 10-year celebration and cried out “what the hell, Snapfish is still in business?!?”
